Ann Bergin
Managing Director & General Manager, Wealth Management Services

ANN E. BERGIN is Managing Director & General Manager, Wealth Management Services.  In this capacity, she oversees a business unit that focuses on mutual funds, managed accounts and alternative investment products, for which she has responsibility for product development and management, relationship management and international activities.

Ms. Bergin joined the organization's subsidiary, National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), in 1997.  Since that time, she has broadened the range of services provided to the mutual fund industry and expanded their reach into new markets.  In 2003, she was awarded the Fund Operations Award for Leadership by Thomson Media.

During her tenure, the number of transactions processed through Fund/SERV® increased to nearly 118 million at year-end 2005 compared with 104 million in 2004 and 28 million in 1997.  The capabilities of the service also were enhanced to support other investment products, such as Guaranteed Investment Contracts, offshore funds, stable value funds and 529 Qualified State Tuition Plans.  Fund/SERV is considered the industry standard for linking fund families with fund distributors, centralizing order entry, confirmation, registration and settlement of mutual fund transactions.

While breaking new records in core mutual fund services, the business unit has sought to address a number of changing regulatory and industry-led requirements. In March 2004, at the request of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Ms. Bergin provided testimony on Fund/SERV's role in the "hard 4:00 p.m. close" proposal by the Securities and Exchange Commission to combat late trading of funds.  She directed the expansion of Mutual Fund Profile Service, Fund/SERV and Networking to accommodate breakpoint and other security-related information, after these services were singled out as an important part of the solution by the Joint NASD/Industry Task Force on Breakpoints.  DTCC also added an important function to Networking to allow fund companies to better monitor market timing and short-term trading and apply redemption fees, if necessary.

Other services launched or broadened in the nine years Ms. Bergin has been with the organization include Defined Contribution Clearance & Settlement and Fund/SPEEDsm, a Web-based portal that is providing financial reps and planners with the first centralized, real-time, automated connection to fund companies for transactions and account information.

Before joining DTCC, Ms. Bergin was senior vice president, Client Management at Bisys Fund Services, Inc., where she was in charge of overall profit and loss, administrative and distribution support for the firm's New York client base.  This included strategic planning to increase assets under management, administration of the proprietary fund complex and relationship management.

Ms. Bergin also spent four years with Concord Financial Group.  As senior vice president, Administration, she helped create the business model and launch Concord Financial Services, the organization's in-house transfer agency and institutional servicing operation.  Additionally, she managed a staff of client project managers and client relationship managers.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Bergin spent nine years with The Dreyfus Corporation, moving up to Vice President, Retail, with responsibility for new product development, direct marketing and client servicing of mutual fund products.

An active participant in industry groups, Ms. Bergin is involved with various committees of The Investment Company Institute; she is also a member of the Joint NASD/Industry National Investment Company Service Association's Task Force on Breakpoints and the NASD Omnibus Account Task Force.
