New York, October 8, 2000 - Jack R. Wiener has been elected Managing Director, and promoted to Deputy General Counsel, at The Depository Trust &Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
In this role, Wiener will oversee the legal aspects of The Depository TrustCompany's (DTC) international and e-commerce initiatives.

Jack brings a unique blend of talent andexperience to our team of managing directors, having spent the better part of adecade at major law firms before joining us in the late 1980s. Wiener joined DTC, a DTCC subsidiary, in 1989. Major areas of DTCC's legalpractice for which he is responsible include DTC's international and e-commercepractices, as well as areas of DTCC's securities law practice. Wiener has alsorepresented DTC on the Securities Clearing Group (SCG) and the Unified ClearingGroup (UCG), two U.S. industry-wide clearing organization associations. Inaddition, he has lectured on securities law matters in the U.S., Europe, SouthAmerica, and the Middle East.
Having been appointed by the U.S. State Department to represent the UnitedStates, Wiener also serves as a Member of the U.S. Delegation to the HagueConference on Private International Law. In that role, he is negotiating -with39 other member nations at The Hague - an international treaty relating to thecross-border pledging of securities.
Prior to joining DTC, Wiener practiced law since 1982 at major law firms,including Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz.
Wiener received a J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law Schoolin 1982 (where he was Editor of The University of Pennsylvania Law Review), anda B.A. (summa cum laude; Phi Beta Kappa) from Brooklyn College in 1979. He is amember of the bars of New York, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania.
