Larry Thompson Selected to Participate in the David Rockefeller Fellows Program for 2004-2005

New York, October 19, 2004 - The Partnership for New York City has named Larry Thompson, First Deputy General Counsel and Managing Director of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), a participant in the 2004 - 2005 class of the David Rockefeller Fellows Program.

The program was established in 1989 as a tribute to the civic contributions and leadership of the Partnership's founding chairman, David Rockefeller. It is designed to enable a new generation of private sector leaders to deepen their understanding of the public needs of New York City, and to take an active role in shaping its future.

Thompson is one of 18 New York City-based executives selected to participate in the program. Fellows are nominated by their CEOs and selected in a competitive process. During the 11-month program they will participate in an intensive schedule of site visits to city institutions and neighborhoods and meetings with top public, civic and private sector leaders, including Joel Klein, New York City Education Chancellor; Chairman and CEO of Time Warner Richard Parsons; New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer; Glenn Lowry, Director of the Museum of Modern Art; and Daniel Doctoroff, Deputy Mayor of Economic Development and Rebuilding.

"Larry has built strong relationships with government and regulatory agencies, interfacing with his counterparts in the public sector on a range of issues impacting DTCC and the securities industry," said Jill M. Considine, Chairman and CEO of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. "We feel strongly that Larry's record of achievement in the world of business and finance, his life experience, his communication and interpersonal skills, and his enthusiasm will enable him to make an important contribution to the program."

"Over my more than a decade of involvement with the Rockefeller Fellows, I am pleased to say that I have watched the program blossom and improve," said Alair A. Townsend, publisher of Crain's New York Business and Chair of the David Rockefeller Fellows Advisory Committee. "This year, we again received an impressive set of applications - a testament to the private sector's commitment to civic leadership and partnership with the public sector - a commitment that is especially needed at a time when so much of New York City's energy is being devoted to strategies to promote long-term growth."

Prior to joining DTCC in 1981, Thompson was a partner in the law firm of Lake, Bogan, Lenoir, Jones & Thompson and an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He is a former director of the Legal Aid Society of New York and former director of The Studio Museum of Harlem.

Thompson earned his B.A. degree from Yale University with cum laude honors and as Scholar of the House. He earned his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
