Asset Pricing

a service offering of National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC)
Asset Pricing (AAP) enables insurance carriers to transmit the unit values for underlying funds within variable annuity and life insurance products to distributors on a daily basis.

Overview

Asset Pricing (AAP) enables insurance carriers to transmit the unit values for underlying funds within variable annuity and life insurance products to distributors on a daily basis.  The AAP file provides fund-level pricing information, similar to the net asset value for mutual funds, that may be applicable to multiple insurance products within a carrier's product line.

Who Can Use This Service

Insurance carriers, broker/dealers, banks, and insurance agencies affiliated with broker/dealers or banks are eligible for the service. Participants must meet NSCC membership requirements, and special data-services-only memberships are available.

Benefits

With AAP, distributors can:

  • Access pre-sale performance comparison information, such as daily fund units and values, required to calculate carrier-by-carrier product comparisons at the onset of a variable insurance sale.
  • Obtain current pricing information as of the close of business each day.
  • Calculate and verify contract values on annuity and life insurance products on a daily basis.
  • Simplify and streamline the transmission of data through one comprehensive file of product and fund data, enabling carriers to provide full pricing information to all their trading partners.

How the Service Works

Using a mainframe or Internet connection, carriers can use AAP to electronically send pricing information to NSCC, which then routes the information to distributors.
