DTCC's Fixed Income Division and DTCC Learning have launched a new series of podcasts for the Mortgage-Backed Securities Division (MBS).
MBS Podcasts
The Mortgage-Backed Securities Division operates two primary business units: Clearing services, which include trade comparison, confirmation, netting, and risk management, and Electronic Pool Notification (EPN) services, which allow customers to transmit/retrieve mortgage-backed securities pool information in real-time using standardized message formats.
MBSD CCP Pool Netting Substitution Update - August 13, 2009 (4:03)
[Excerpt] "On August 13, 2009, the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation distributed important Notice # MBS.159.09. Designed to prepare members for their upcoming testing of Pool Netting, as well as to provide members with a more comprehensive understanding of how the new Pool Netting substitution service will work, this notice has been drafted to delineate the business flow and the processing rules governing the new EPN Pool Settlement Obligation Substitution service. EPN will be the only method available to submit substitutions of Pool Settlement Obligations; any clearing member that is currently not an EPN member must contact its DTCC Relationship Manager to apply for EPN membership."
MBS Division Participants, User Training Materials for NOS and Pool Netting - July 15, 2009 (2:55)
FICC has created training materials to help members understand the functionality of the Notification of Settlement (NOS) Web screens released to production July 27 and the Pool Netting screens due for release later this year. The materials include a user guide and a series of training simulations that detail the functionality of the new screens. Members entering NOS manually are advised to familiarize themselves with the new Web screens using the training simulations.
The Government Securities Division and the Mortgage-Backed Securities Division of the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation announced plans to implement changes to their Clearing Fund methodology in the third quarter of 2009. These proposed changes will be filed with the SEC shortly as proposed changes to the rules of the GSD and the MBSD. Rule changes are subject to SEC approval. MBSD Enhanced SBO Summary Implementation Update - February 26, 2009 (2:44)
On January 29, 2009, the Mortgage-Backed Securities Division of the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation published an Important Notice (MBS027.09) announcing an enhancement to the SBO Summary Report MRO and print image versions. MBS Pool Netting-Testing Requirements - February 11, 2009 (3:37)
On February 11, 2009, the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation published Important Notice #MBS.040.09 advising Mortgage-Backed Securities Division participants of the scheduled rollout of its Pool Netting Service and testing requirements. Effective August 17, 2009, subject to SEC approval, the current MBSD clearing rulebook will be replaced. The proposed new rulebook sets forth new membership qualifications and standards, Clearing Fund requirements, loss allocation methodology, trade processing details as well as settlement processing requirements for trades settling versus FICC and those settling outside of FICC.
