Mutual Fund Profile Service is a multi-dimensional, central data source for comprehensive fund prospectus and operational information. 

Overview

Mutual Fund Profile Service is a multi-dimensional, central data source for comprehensive fund prospectus and operational information. The database is a recognized industry standard for dynamic access to information critical to the distribution of mutual funds in the third-party market. Data distribution inefficiencies are eliminated for fund companies, broker/dealers and other intermediaries through a streamlined process of entering, maintaining and retrieving this information.

Three databases - Security Issue, Participant and Distribution - comprise the repository, which allows participants to exchange accurate and timely information on individual securities, firm and fund member profiles, and projected and actual distribution declarations.

Participants are able to update their data in a pre-programmed format supported by DTCC WebDirect, a Web interface that allows participants direct access over the Internet to services provided by DTCC's subsidiaries.

Profile is also accessible through mainframe links.

Any interested financial organization that meets NSCC qualifications can use the service.

How the Service Works

Security Issue Database: Funds may provide from a central location the following information to all of their distribution partners:

  • General Profile information, such as Security ID number, symbol, name, fee structure and investment objectives
  • Breakpoint schedule data
  • ROA/LOI linkage rules
  • Minimum and maximum restrictions on purchases, redemptions and account size
  • Date of last prospectus and last annual report
  • Blue-sky eligibility
  • CDSC schedules
  • Commission data
  • Social code eligibility
  • Short-term redemption fee data

Participant Database: Both firms and mutual funds participating in Profile can provide:

  • Contact names and designations, addresses and phone numbers
  • Processing capabilities detailing NSCC services and subcategories used, as well as any restrictions or requirements

Distribution Database: Funds may provide the following information:

  • Projected or actual distributions
  • Capital gains and dividend amounts, record date, ex date, reinvest date, payable date, etc.
  • Commission information (12b-1 sales charge rates)
