Byron Ward, Year Up Regional Director of Partner Relations and Andrew Gray, DTCC Managing Director and Group Chief Risk Officer
For its commitment to the career development of urban young adults, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) was awarded this year’s Corporate Champion Award by Year Up New York, an organization that spearheads internships and professional training for students with businesses in New York City and surrounding communities. Year Up programs have a growing presence with a number of cities across the country, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Jacksonville, and Los Angeles, among many others
DTCC is a proud supporter and corporate partner of Year Up New York and has worked with the organization since 2008 by offering paid internships and career opportunities to young adults in the program. Since its inception, DTCC has hosted 13 interns and hired 12 alumni. Six remain DTCC employees today.
Andrew Gray, DTCC Managing Director and Group Chief Risk Offer, is the executive sponsor in this corporate partnership, which aligns with DTCC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. He received the award on August 1 on behalf of DTCC at Year Up New York’s graduation ceremony in Manhattan.
“It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of DTCC,” Gray said. “Year Up’s mission and the impact the organization has on the lives of young people across the country are extremely compelling. DTCC is very proud to partner with Year Up to address the Opportunity Divide by participating in volunteer activities, and placing and hiring interns and graduates of the program. It is exciting to see young talented individuals overcome challenges and bring their varied backgrounds and skillsets to the workforce.”

Andrea Catellier, DTCC Executive Director, Business Transformation Office, has been involved with Year Up since 2009. She took on a greater role a year later and began mentoring the organization’s interns in 2010.
“This is a phenomenal program that closes the unfair opportunity divide so many young adults have to experience through no fault of their own,” Catellier said. “It is critical that we all act as agents of change and make a meaningful impact on the participants’ life trajectories. The program also proves beneficial to DTCC, connecting the company, in a non-traditional way, to a pipeline of diverse talent that is motivated and professional.”
About Year Up
The Year Up organization was founded in 2000 in Boston, MA, envisioning a future in which every urban young adult would have access to the education, experiences, and guidance required to realize his or her true potential. The organization has grown to 20 locations across the United States, and continues empowering urban young adults on a viable path to economic self-sufficiency.
Year Up New York is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide urban young adults a chance to participate in an intensive one-year training program that combines hands-on skill development, college credits and corporate internships. The organization has grown to two locations since its first class in September 2006.
Year Up New York’s Wall Street Campus is located in the heart of New York City’s financial district, across the street from the New York Stock Exchange. The organization also opened its new BMCC Campus location earlier this year, serving young adults enrolled or willing to enroll in the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
