DTCC Media Statement on CPSS-IOSCO Principles for Financial Market Infrastructure

New York, April 17, 2012 - The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) supports CPSS-IOSCO's objectives of mitigating risk in the financial markets and further strengthening financial market infrastructures globally. DTCC commends these organisations in their recent release of guiding principles that are intended to ensure robust standards for the sound operation of our financial systems. DTCC has been fully engaged with CPSS-IOSCO throughout the process to provide comment and has provided substantial feedback on the proposed principles.

As the operator of the primary infrastructure for the US cash securities markets, owner of a central counterparty for equities in Europe, and operator of global trade repositories for the OTC derivatives markets, DTCC is committed to fostering greater risk management and safety in the trading of financial instruments worldwide. We are currently reviewing the CPSS-IOSCO report in its entirety in order to assess its implications for market participants and for the overall operation of our financial infrastructure. We look forward to collaborating with our regulatory supervisors and with the industry in the implementation of these principles and the creation of a safer and more efficient market environment.
