Career Snapshot


Donald F. Donahue has been with DTCC and its predecessor organizations since 1986.


He has been DTCC’s CEO, as well as CEO of The Depository Trust Company (DTC), National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) and Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC), since 2006. In this role, Donahue oversees the company’s domestic and international businesses, operations, technology and other functions, including customer outreach and staff areas. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Managers of Omgeo, DTCC’s joint venture with Thomson Reuters.

During his career at DTCC, Donahue served as DTCC’s COO, and President and COO for DTC and NSCC; as head of DTC’s Operations Division from 1995 to 1997; as DTC’s CIO from 1997 to 2000; and as head of DTCC’s Customer Marketing and Development Division, with responsibility for strategic planning, product development, IT applications development, and technology infrastructure support and telecommunications from 2000 to 2003.


He also served as Sector Coordinator for the U.S. Banking and Finance Sector from 2004 to 2006, under an appointment by then-Treasury Secretary John Snow, in connection with the U.S. Treasury Department’s responsibilities on critical infrastructure protection matters.


Donahue has participated in a variety of financial services industry committees and task forces. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of New York City; the International Securities Services Association (ISSA); and on the Board of Directors of XBRL US, the nonprofit consortium for XML business reporting standards in the U.S. financial markets.


Donahue began his financial career at Barr Brothers & Co., Inc., a broker/dealer specializing in municipal securities. He also worked for the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board from 1977 to 1985, first as Assistant Executive Director and then as Deputy Executive Director. From 1985 to 1986 he was President of two affiliated companies that developed and marketed secondary market credit enhancements for municipal securities.
