DTCC Tampa Hosts First On-Site Settlement Training with Industry Colleagues

By Randy Spencer

More than 40 representatives from leading banks and financial firms attended a day-long training session on Settlement and Asset Services held at The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) Tampa location.

The training session was the first-ever class conducted on location at a DTCC site. Typically, client training through DTCC is conducted using virtual webinars, self-paced online courses and on-site visits to the clients’ location.

Kaliym Islam, Vice President of The DTCC Learning Group, the client training department at DTCC, noted the benefits of having industry colleagues together at a DTCC office creates an open environment where thoughts and best practices can more easily be shared. Additionally he hopes the training will foster new ideas as the industry continues to grow and expand.

“We are always exploring options and finding new and innovative ways to collaborate with key players in the industry in order to meet the needs of our clients,” said Islam. “We want to continue to bring together clients in a neutral setting here at DTCC to further enhance their training experience and grow knowledge about the benefits of our products and services.”

Anthony Leone, DTCC Lead Learning Program Manager, led the session and said clients offered positive feedback on the experience. “Training has become a focal point for DTCC’s partners and clients as they continue looking for opportunities to mitigate risk, reduce costs and enhance their processing efficiencies,” Leone said. “DTCC is in a position to lead, train and encourage collaboration not only on these topics but many others as well.”

Islam is hopeful that the success of the first on-site training at a DTCC location will drive support for expansion of the program, including possibly rolling it out to other DTCC locations in Dallas and Jersey City.

“The value these sessions bring to DTCC and our clients is very real,” Islam said. We believe the benefits of hosting these training events at our sites are unique and important because they allow us to build deeper relationships with our industry colleagues and find new ways to bring our products and services to them.”

Clients that participated in the training include Citigroup Inc., JPMorgan Chase and Raymond James Financial. Training attendees now have the opportunity to earn their certifications in both Settlement and Securities Processing.
