Executives from The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) will be sharing their insights on key issues surrounding fixed income clearing, OTC derivatives reporting, corporate actions, equity clearing and the move towards a shortened settlement cycle in the U.S. to industry peers on high-profile panels at the annual Securities and Financial Markets Association Operations Conference(SIFMA Ops), April 13 – 16 in San Diego.
Andrew Gray, DTCC Group Chief Risk Officer, will be one of two featured keynote speakers during the general session on Wednesday, April 15. During his session, “Perspectives on Industry Resilience,” Gray will outline the need for financial firms to build resilience to protect against the broad range of risks that could impact market stability.
DTCC Executives Speak on Key Industry Issues
DTCC executives will participate in five panel discussions and breakout-sessions covering a wide range of topics.
John Abel, DTCC Vice, President Product Management, Settlement and Asset Services, will sit on the panel titled “Shortened Settlement Cycle: The Path Forward.” This panel will discuss regulations, system, process and technology changes, and the behavioral modifications involved in moving from T+3 to T+2 in the U.S. The panel will also explore the drivers for a shorter settlement cycle, the building blocks that must be achieved, as well as the benefits and challenges of a shorter settlement cycle.
Murray Pozmanter, DTCC Managing Director and Head of Clearing Agency Services, will moderate the “Fixed Income Clearing Update” session. He will be joined by Nicholas Botta, DTCC Vice President, Clearing Services, and Sean Delap, DTCC Vice President, Clearing Services, as panelists. The session will focus on capital requirements and operational efficiencies and extending service offerings to new customer segments.
Marisol Collazo, CEO, DTCC Data Repository (US) LLC and DerivSERV Global Head of Regulatory Relations, will be joined by Cynthia Meyn, DTCC Board Member and Executive Vice President, Operations, PIMCO, on “OTC Derivatives Reporting - Challenges to Global Transparency.” The session will focus on the operational challenges of local and regional reporting mandates, and explore how this has impacted the goal of bringing greater transparency to the global OTC derivatives market.
Dan Thieke, DTCC Managing Director, General Manager, Settlement and Asset Services, will participate in the panel “Corporate Actions in a T+2 Era and Other Topical Issues.” Thieke and fellow panelists will explore a variety of topics influencing the corporate actions landscape, including the anticipated impact of a shortened settlement cycle in the U.S. on corporate actions, and the lessons that the U.S has learned from Europe’s recent conversion to T+2.
Initiatives designed to promote the safety and soundness in the U.S. equity markets will be the topic of “Equity Clearing Update,” moderated by Thomas Sakaris, DTCC Managing Director, Clearing Services. Bill Kapogiannis, DTCC Vice President, Equity Clearing Services, and Michele Hillery, DTCC Vice President, Equity Clearing Services, will join Tom and the other panelists as they discuss risk mitigation, optimization of capital, and customer protection.
