Meet our PRIDE+ Co-Chair, Ben

By DTCC Staff | July 22, 2022

The Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at DTCC foster an environment that respects and values diversity and inclusion. In addition to providing opportunities for professional development and growth, ERGs play an important role in working with senior leadership to address workforce policies and serve as a resource for innovative solutions that drive positive change.

PRIDE+'s mission is to foster a fully inclusive workplace enabling Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual ("LGBTQIA+") and their Ally employees to realize and bring their authentic selves to work, thereby enhancing DTCC’s reputation as a leading-edge employer in workplace diversity and inclusivity and partner in the LGBTQIA+ communities.

Read on to learn more about DTCC’s Ben Pham, PRIDE+'s recently appointed Co-Chair.

DC: Tell us about your role at DTCC.

BP: I joined DTCC in 2016 and am currently in DTCC Solutions Program Management Office. I provide project management and program management services to various business across DTCC. I collaborate with key stakeholders across the enterprise to manage the planning, the execution and the closing of strategic programs and projects.

DC: What do you consider to be your biggest business accomplishment to date?

BP: My biggest business accomplishment to date is being proud of who I have become, and how much I have learned throughout my career.

DC: Describe your ERG journey.

BP: I first joined the ERG 'START', which is now called IGNITE. It was an avenue for me to build my network at DTCC. When each ERG hosted events, I attended, and got a chance to meet others that I would have not met through my day-to-day work. Those individuals that I connected through ERG events, are still the same people I reach out today for guidance, comfort, and laughter.

DC: What are the titles of the last three books you have read? Tell us how you related to one of the characters/story/settings.

BP: When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron; Attached by Amir Levine and Rachel S. F. Heller; and Think Again by Adam Grant.

One of the hobbies I picked up during the pandemic is reading. I listen to a mixed of audible and read hard copy books. These three books are mostly self-help books, and usually recommended by my friends or someone at DTCC. Lately, I enjoyed reading books that provide a different perspective in life, and I applied what works for me, so that I can continuously improve myself to become a better version of who I want to become.

DC: How do you evaluate success?

BP: Success is looking back at what you did and acknowledging that you learned something from it. Either learning a new skill to complete a task/responsibility or learning from a mistake/failure.

DC: Tell us a little bit about your plans/goals for the ERG this year.

BP: My goals for PRIDE+ are to provide opportunities that encourage our members to engage and to network. I want to work with my PRIDE+ Leadership to have events at least quarterly so that our members can stay connected - even if it’s just a simple coffee chat event. We all can get easily distracted with our work, or with what’s going on around the world. I hope that PRIDE+ creates a place for individuals at DTCC to reach out to each other, share stories with each other, and stay connected.
