Today marks a significant milestone in the evolution of global financial markets. Building on more than a decade of innovation and industry collaboration, DTCC is helping advance tokenization from concept to live production, demonstrating how trusted market infrastructure and digital innovation can work together at scale. As progress continues to build an interoperable, efficient, and scalable digital asset ecosystem, today represents an important step from discussing the potential of tokenization to beginning to realize its benefits. Follow along here as we share updates and insights throughout the day.

Kicking off today's milestone event, J.P. Morgan successfully converted the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) ETF into a tokenized real-world asset.

9:10 AM ET

J.P. Morgan tokenized the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ), one of the world’s most actively traded and liquid ETFs. The conversion highlights how tokenized representations of traditional assets can operate within existing market infrastructure while maintaining the same liquidity, transparency, rights and protections as the underlying traditional asset.

DTCC and Microsoft are working together to advance the next generation of digital market infrastructure. This critical initiative is part of DTCC's Cloud First strategy to modernize core digital markets infrastructure.

10:20 AM ET

DTCC and the participants of today's live production trades intentionally identified a number of use cases for today's event to demonstrate how tokenized assets can operate within trusted market infrastructure while enabling interoperability, asset mobility and operational efficiency. In the first of several similar updates that will be posted today, the transactions completed thus far are highlighted below.

10:45 AM ET

J.P. Morgan successfully posted tokenized assets to satisfy CCP margin requirements with CME Group, demonstrating why tokenized collateral mobility is one of the most talked-about use cases.

11:00 AM ET

The CCP margin use case that was just executed by J.P. Morgan and CME Group demonstrated that collateral operations can be moved on chain. Notably, a Depository Trust Company member transacted and moved collateral margin to a CCP.

11:25 AM ET

DTCC has successfully processed several more tokenized transactions as part of today's live production trades. From U.S. Treasury and equity conversions to U.S. Treasury DVP to collateral pledges to equity DVP trades, these use cases showcase how tokenized assets can support greater interoperability, asset mobility and operational efficiency across markets.

11:40 AM ET

The tokenization of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) marks another important milestone in today's event. As SPY is one of the world's most liquid ETFs (and the first ETF ever!), tokenizing this iconic fund demonstrates how digital twins of real-world assets can enhance liquidity, resiliency and capital efficiency.

11:50 AM ET

As explained by multiple market participants who completed transactions during today's event, tokenized assets have the potential to move more seamlessly across networks and between counterparties. The result is a more connected ecosystem where assets and collateral can be mobilized with greater efficiency while leveraging the same market infrastructure that investors have relied on for decades.

12:00 PM ET

The transition to the Web3 ecosystem of the future requires close collaboration across the industry, as evidenced by the Nasdaq MarketSite display about today's milestone event in Times Square earlier. The public recognition emphasized the meaningful progress taking place that sets the stage for the launch of the DTCC Tokenization Service later this year.

12:20 PM ET

Tokenization can support the real-time movement of collateral, repo and equity transactions using tokenized U.S. Treasuries, equities and ETFs exchanged for digital cash. Through several transactions completed today, Marex showcased the versatility of tokenized assets and their ability to enhance market efficiency and investor outcomes.

12:40 PM ET

Take a look at the breadth of the final use cases and participants that rounded out today's live production trades event. Through cross-chain transfers, collateral pledges, equity conversions and delivery-versus-payment (DVP) transactions involving both U.S. Treasury and equity assets, participants demonstrated how digital markets has the potential to support greater interoperability, faster transactions and operational efficiency.

1:00 PM ET

Live, production trades showcasing how tokenized infrastructure and atomic settlement can support more efficient market operations were successfully completed today. Among the use cases, participants executed U.S. Treasury repo, U.S. Treasury buy/sell and equity buy/sell transactions using DTC-custodied tokenized assets.

1:15 PM ET

With the conclusion of today's live production trades that saw about 40 firms participating, we can confidently say that tokenization became a reality. We successfully transitioned from concept, design and testing to the execution of live production transactions utilizing tokenized DTC-custodied assets, paving the way for the expected October 2026 launch of the DTCC Tokenization Service. Thanks for following along today. We look forward to continuing to share announcements, updates and news about the DTCC Tokenization Service in the weeks and months to come.
