Manage Securities Positions Electronically

The Fast Automated Securities Transfer (FAST) Program is a contract-based service between DTC and transfer agents that enables securities to be held and managed electronically, eliminating the routine movement of physical certificates. By serving as custodians for DTC positions, transfer agents help streamline securities transfers, improve processing efficiency and support industry-wide dematerialization efforts.

To add a DTC-eligible security to the program, a FAST agent submits a request to TAServices@dtcc.com with the security's CUSIP and FAST agent number. Once approved, DTC provides the inventory for cancellation, and the transfer agent establishes a balance certificate representing DTC's electronic position. Through synchronized recordkeeping between DTC and transfer agents, FAST helps reduce manual processing, lower operational costs and improve the accuracy and efficiency of securities management.
