Syed Ali

Syed Ali is Managing Director and Head of DTCC First Line Business Controls, within the Strategy & Market Solutions organization. He leads the First Line Business Controls function, embedding robust, business-owned controls, advanced analytics, collaborative practices and industry-leading capabilities to keep pace with emerging risks and enable DTCC to grow and innovate with resilience, transparency and sustainable value creation. Syed also serves on the Strategy & Market Solutions leadership team, where he advises and informs the evolving business strategy and supports effective engagement across the business, enterprise risk functions, executive leadership and governance bodies.

Syed joined DTCC in September 2018 as Executive Director, RDS Product Management and subsequently served as Managing Director responsible for RDS Product Delivery and Strategy. Prior to joining DTCC, he held a number of positions with Barclays Investment Bank, including Vice President of Derivatives and FX Operations. He began his career at Morgan Stanley within its Prime Brokerage business. Syed earned a Master of Arts in International Management from Sunderland University and a Master of Science in Finance from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Syed is the Executive Sponsor for DTCC’s MENA Employee Resource Group and an Ambassador for DTCC’s Global Mentoring Circles program. He also sits on DTCC’s Governance, Risk and Compliance Council, Resiliency Committee, and Executive EDM Steering Committee.
