Corporate Social Responsibility

“We are proud of the strong commitment of DTCC employees to our Corporate Responsibility efforts. These initiatives not only enrich the local communities in which we work, but they benefit our employees and the business by allowing us to give back and share.” –Mike Bodson, President and CEO

DTCC demonstrates our long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility in the growing number of communities across the globe where we operate. We focus our company-wide CSR efforts on education, economic development and environmental sustainability and direct our support to organizations and programs dedicated to these priorities. DTCC employees play a vital role in our CSR commitment, by volunteering time and contributing financially to the organizations that enrich the cities and neighborhoods where we live and work.

DTCC’s Corporate Social Responsibility office along with employee CSR Ambassadors help identify new volunteer and giving opportunities in our local communities, and Consiva, an Internet-based platform, makes it easy for employees to sign up and to donate.

Our CSR activities, both company-wide and location-specific, are growing every year. Here are some of the ways DTCC is giving back to our communities:

Advancing STEM Education

  Change the Equation

DTCC believes strongly in the importance of education in the sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as a path to help build a qualified workforce that can compete effectively in the global economy and expand employment opportunities for less-advantaged students. We seek ways to promote STEM education. Additionally, DTCC along with other leading U.S. corporations has partnered with Change the Equation to collectively donate more than 100,000 hours of skills-based training for K-12 students to ensure the future workforce is STEM literate. DTCC is a proud supporter of Year Up, an intensive, one-year program providing technical and professional training, paid internships and college credits to low-income young adults with high school diplomas or GEDs.Through non-profit organizations such as NPower, The Pencil Fellows Program, The Posse Foundation, and Gateway to Leadership, DTCC helps local college students build business acumen and professional skills through summer internship opportunities, making them more attractive as candidates and providing a local talent pool for future employment.

Corporate Giving

DTCC’s total corporate donations in 2015 reached US$366,000, which includes US$50,000 in employee contributions to select charitable organizations that align with our CSR focus on education, economic development and environmental sustainability. In addition, DTCC provided grant awards totaling US$8,500 to organizations with the most volunteer hours, including Caia Park Partnership (UK), The Virlanie Foundation (Philippines), and Hand in Hand (India), to assist people around the globe.

DTCC-Sponsored Volunteer Time

Planting vegetation to restore a fragile ecosystem, serving meals at food kitchens, helping students polish their interviewing skills, installing “healthy home kits” in low-income residences: these are just a few examples of how DTCC employees contribute to people and programs in need. Each year, DTCC sponsors paid volunteer time, which employees across our locations worldwide can use to engage in community service. In 2015 alone, DTCC executives and employees participated in more than 90 volunteer activities in partnership with local nonprofits working in the areas of education, economic development and environmental sustainability. Among the organizations supported by our offices around the world are:

To help make it easier for our employees to give back to the community, DTCC provides an Internet-based tool that enables them to:

  • Request a matching gift
  • Make donations to a favorite charity, year round
  • Organize an individual or team volunteer project
  • Submit volunteer hours to qualify for volunteer grants

Disaster Relief

When disasters strike around the world, DTCC mobilizes to provide monetary and sometimes material support. In recent years we have extended aid to victims of earthquakes in Ecuador and Nepal, to refugees in Europe and to those displaced by flooding in India. The scale and scope of each disaster, and the accompanying needs, are largely unpredictable. That is why DTCC develops a disaster recovery response and provides ad hoc funding on a case-by-case basis.
