To help ease the transition from military service to a corporate environment, DTCC has formed a business professional network (also referred to as an employee network) for employees who are military veterans.
“We are firmly committed to our employees who have served in the military; and with a recruiting strategy focused on hiring top talent, we plan to bring more veterans on board,” said Michael Bodson, DTCC President and CEO. “Our Veterans BPN will provide a support network and resources to ease the transition from military service to work in a corporate environment, as well as help these employees navigate through our myriad departments and responsibilities while supporting their career development.”

The Veterans BPN will initially emphasize pairing individuals with mentors and hosting a leadership speaker series featuring military leaders. The Veterans BPN is open to all employees and is one of seven other established employee networks. These include DTCC’s Asian, Black, LGBT and Allies, UNIDOS (Hispanic/Latino), WINS (women) and START (young professionals) BPNs.
Creation of the Veterans BPN follows a decision DTCC made in May 2012 to become a member of the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition comprising major corporations that have pledged to hire 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans by 2020. More than 50,000 have been hired by coalition members so far.
DTCC’s recruitment team is keenly focused on identifying individuals who have diverse skills in areas such as information technology, business analytics, auditing, risk management, cyber-security and process improvement in cross-cultural environments, skills that are particularly honed with military service. In addition, veterans come equipped with strong work ethics including reliability, commitment and flexibility.
“We have found these qualities to be inherent in the veterans we have hired and, as a result, we have been able to leverage their skills to strengthen our organization,” explained Nashid Salahuddin, DTCC Director, Human Resources, and one of the leaders of the newly formed employee network.
One of DTCC’s business and operations center is based in Tampa, home to the MacDill Air Force Base Transition Assistance Program. The program has become an important hiring source for DTCC, and DTCC is working with program officials to help facilitate workshops for veterans returning to civilian life.
