The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) recently presented its annual awards at the ACORD Connect conference, held virtually in October. DTCC’s Insurance and Retirement Services (I&RS) was recognized during the ACORD Industry Contributor and Leadership awards ceremony for 2021.

“I’m so proud of our team and all they do for our clients and the industry. DTCC’s involvement for more than 20 years in insurance – and especially driving standards and efficiencies – has done so much to help the industry grow and evolve,” said Barb Smith, DTCC Executive Director, I&RS.
DTCC was honored with the Industry Contributor Award as a result of providing use cases for ACORD’s digital standards effort to support creating JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) messages for the life and annuity (L&A) industry. JSON is a lightweight format for storing and transporting data. The DTCC I&RS Product Management team participated and led industry discussions to create and drive standards across the L&A industry, advocating for and implementing the L&A standards.

ACORD Leadership Award
ACORD’s Leadership Award was presented to Jeanann Smith, DTCC Senior Product Management Director, IR&S, who, along with the entire I&RS Product Management team, has demonstrated leadership in the areas of standards development, advocacy, and implementation. The award recognizes and singles out those in the ACORD community who have excelled in guiding the insurance industry towards greater data transparency.
“I am very grateful for the team to receive this award from ACORD,” said Smith. “As an industry-owned and operated firm, DTCC has a unique perspective on how to support and share best practices for processing data.”
